KATHMANDU, May 25: Although the Tatopani trade route between Nepal and China has been put into operation, the poor condition of the road has increased the risk of accidents.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, May 1: After eight years, the main Tatopani border crossing between Nepal and China has been put into two-way operation.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, April 18:  A bilateral meeting of security officers from Nepal and China was held on Monday. The meeting focused on various issues of mutual concerns such as the reopening of the Tatopani transit point along the Nepal-China border in the district, border management, control of cross-border crimes and other contemporary issues.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, Sept 30: Sheep and mountain goats from Tatopani, a major border point of the north, have started entering Nepal for Dashain and Tihar festivals. The sheep were transported to Nepal from Tibet as soon as the border opened after a week’s shutdown. A total of 1,100 sheep and mountain goats were brought to Tatopani in a day on Friday.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, Oct 26: China has begun repairing Araniko Highway which was badly damaged by the devastating earthquakes of 2015. The subsequent flash floods had cut off Nepal's access to the northern neighbor, China.

Three years after the Gorkha earthquake devastated 32 districts of the country, Tatopani, in Sindhupalchowk has become a ghost town. Until other entry points connecting China was opened, Tatopani served as the only trade route between the two countries.

The bridge, a part of the Araniko Highway, was the connection of Tatopani with the rest of the country. Incessant rain throughout the day and the night earlier had triggered the landslide that broke bridge.

POKHARA, July 8: The tourist city of Pokhara has lost most of the Indian tourists bound for Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet along with the closure of Tatopani border point following the 2015 earthquakes. Most of the Indian pilgrims who traveled to Kailash Mansarovar via Araniko Highway used to visit Pokhara along the way.
