KATHMANDU, May 25: Although the Tatopani trade route between Nepal and China has been put into operation, the poor condition of the road has increased the risk of accidents.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, May 1: After eight years, the main Tatopani border crossing between Nepal and China has been put into two-way operation.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, April 18:  A bilateral meeting of security officers from Nepal and China was held on Monday. The meeting focused on various issues of mutual concerns such as the reopening of the Tatopani transit point along the Nepal-China border in the district, border management, control of cross-border crimes and other contemporary issues.

The sheep were transported to Nepal from Tibet as soon as the border opened after a week’s shutdown. A total of 1,100 sheep and mountain goats were brought to Tatopani in a day on Friday.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, April 29: The government has begun internal preparations to bring the Tatopani trade route along Nepal-China into operation from mid-June. The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has stated that the trade route will coming into operation once the Chinese government hands over Larcha Dry Port to Nepal.

After four years of complete closure, Nepal’s trade with China through Tatopani border point is resuming, most probably from May 20.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, July 24: With the Larcha Bridge over Bhotekoshi River broken and washed away by landslide on Sunday evening, Tatopani area has been isolated from the rest of the country. The bridge, a part of the Araniko Highway, was the connection of Tatopani with the rest of the country. Incessant rain throughout the day and the night earlier had triggered the landslide that broke bridge.

POKHARA, July 8: The tourist city of Pokhara has lost most of the Indian tourists bound for Kailash Mansarovar in Tibet along with the closure of Tatopani border point following the 2015 earthquakes. Most of the Indian pilgrims who traveled to Kailash Mansarovar via Araniko Highway used to visit Pokhara along the way.

KATHMANDU, June 21: China has agreed to reopen the Tatopani customs point that remains closed since April 2015 when the earthquakes heavily damaged infrastructures on both sides of Nepal-China border.
