KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Brushing aside suggestions made by a section of people in Nepal that all the development assistances of the US government to Nepal are guided by geopolitical consideration, visiting USAID Administrator Samantha Power said on Wednesday that the investment made by the US government in Nepal is not the product of geopolitics but a testimony to its enduring commitment and partnership to help Nepal prosper and have better life for its people.

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: The US government has announced to provide nearly $60 million to advance democratic progress in Nepal. $40.2 million of the support announced by the visiting USAID Administrator Samantha Power is a part of the $659 million development objective agreement announced in 2022 for the next five years.

Power is about to come to Nepal less than a week after Victoria Nuland, the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, returned from a visit to Nepal. USAID informed about Power's visit through a statement only last Wednesday.
