I woke up with a sense of panic. Being a single parent meant my kids would starve if I got sick and I had been very unwell for few days. Then I saw my sixteen-year-old boy cooking in the kitchen. Sense of relief awash, I looked at my two-and-a-half- years-old toddler. She was already fed and changed. My sixteen-year-old son shouldn’t have to be a parent or a guardian to his half sister and his mum.
