KATHMANDU, April 26: There is a huge crowd of devotees to see and worship Rato Machhindranath in Gahabhal on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, April 17:  Rato Machhindranath is worshiped as the god of rain. According to legends, it is believed to have been brought to Kathmandu from Kamaru Kamakhya, India. Chariot of this deity is pulled with much fanfare during the chariot festival that is attended by a huge crowd in Kathmandu.

Rato Machhindranath's chariot procession is starting today. The chariot will be pulled from Pulchowk today. Rato Machhindranath's rath (Chariot) yatra (procession) is considered to be the longest procession in Lalitpur. It is customary to pull the chariot in and around Lalitpur during this procession.

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The chariot of the deity Rato Machindranath was pulled at Patan on Sunday afternoon. The chariot was pulled from Machhindra Bahal in Pulchowk to Sorhakhutte Falcha- in front of Lalitpur Metropolitan Office.

KATHMANDU, June 7: The government has announced a public holiday on coming Sunday or June 9 to be effective in the Kathmandu Valley to observe the Bhoto Jatra.
