Having reviewed "Singhadurbar: Rise and Fall of the Rana Regime in Nepal" by Sagar S.J.B. Rana (8 July 2017, Republica), I was eagerly awaiting the companion volume. Upon learning that the book is now available in the market, I visited a local bookstore to get a copy.

Kaiser Shumsher was the son of Chandra Shumsher. The late 1890s born Rana became the field marshall in the Nepalese Army, with gaining both national and international honors. Aside from the soldier works, Shumsher was an avid book collector. He used to collect his books at his personal library. Now, 'The Kaiser Library' is open to the public.

Rana dynasty ruled Nepal from 1846 AD to 1951 AD. They rose into power by making themselves Prime Minister and other government positions. During their ruling period, they made royal family the figurehead.
