KATHMANDU, Oct 15: With the beginning of the great Nepali festival, Dashain, the New Bus Park at Gongbu in Kathmandu is crowded with passengers eager to return home. Although the government has opened advance ticket bookings for Dashain, there has been a rush of passengers going home since Saturday as most of the schools, colleges and organizations have been closed since Ghatasthapana.

KATHMANDU, July 30: Nepal Police have taken swift action against individuals involved in harassing passengers at the New Bus Park in Gongabu, Kathmandu. The Naya Bus Park Police Division has been actively arresting and penalizing offenders who forcibly drag bags from passengers arriving at the bus park.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) recently announced a decision that mandates all microbuses and jeep services to operate exclusively from the New Bus Park starting June 16 in order to address perennial traffic congestion in Kathmandu. Upon closer examination, it becomes evident that this new measure is unlikely to address the core problem. Instead, it will not only worsen the existing problem of traffic congestion but also impose insurmountable hardships on ordinary passengers, rendering the decision taken by Mayor Balen Shah far from pragmatic.
