Ill logic, emotion and sentimentality, name calling of nationalists and mocking of Nepal are back on citizenship debate. This time around too, like a year ago and years before that, a set of some same myths, lies and propaganda are being manufactured and spread as State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the parliament has proposed seven years’ residency for foreign women married to Nepali citizens as a criteria to obtain Nepali citizenships.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The government’s push for the Citizenship Bill requiring foreign women marrying Nepali nationals to wait for seven years to acquire citizenship hit a major roadblock on Saturday when the opposition parties objected to the threshold provision for naturalization of foreign brides.

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: With the government’s backing, a proposal of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to provision a seven-year waiting period for naturalization of a foreign woman marrying a Nepali man, the State Affairs Committee (SAC) of the parliament is set to finalize the Citizenship Amendment Bill by including the provision.

She wanted to claim a scholarship for her further education as her family will not be able to afford it. Unfortunately, she could not do so as she doesn't have the citizenship certificate.

RAJBIRAJ, Sept 3: Police have arrested yet another Indian businessman in Saptari on the charge of obtaining a fake Nepali citizenship. Three Indians have been arrested by police in the last five months in the district for possessing fake citizenship certificates.
