KATHMANDU, Dec 19:  The chairman of the National Assembly, Ganesh Timilsina, has expressed dissatisfaction with the practice of foreign daughters-in-law obtaining Nepali citizenship immediately after marriage. Speaking at an event in the capital on Tuesday, he noted that the law allowing citizenship for foreign daughters-in-law upon marriage was enacted amid controversy.

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: With the government’s backing, a proposal of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to provision a seven-year waiting period for naturalization of a foreign woman marrying a Nepali man, the State Affairs Committee (SAC) of the parliament is set to finalize the Citizenship Amendment Bill by including the provision.

RAJBIRAJ, Sept 3: Police have arrested yet another Indian businessman in Saptari on the charge of obtaining a fake Nepali citizenship. Three Indians have been arrested by police in the last five months in the district for possessing fake citizenship certificates.
