KATHMANDU, August 26: The government has been providing 1.5 million kilograms of rice annually through the Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) to the remote district of Humla in Karnali. Due to the lack of road networks, private sector airlines - Summit Air, Tara Air and Sita Air - have been involved in the transportation of rice.

According to Sharmila Neupane Subedi, the spokesperson for Food Management and Trading Company (FMTC), the first integrated fair price shop will open at Ram Shah Path from Monday. "Similar shops will be opened across the country after few days," she added.

BAJURA, Sept 6: The district is faced with food crisis at the very beginning of the fiscal year.  The Nepal Food Corporation depot at Martadi has run out of food grain stock now after the 250 quintal rice grain there was distributed within August.
