KATHMANDU, Feb 17: National Democracy Day, 2079, will be celebrated for three days. The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration today issued a circular to the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers offices, all commissions, departments, institutions, district coordination committees and local governments of all seven provinces to celebrate Democracy Day for three days.

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: The government has decided to move ahead with the process of releasing MP Arun Kumar Chaudhary of Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP). The Council of Ministers has sent the files of MP Chaudhary to the President's Office, seeking clemency for the NUP lawmaker.

Nepal celebrated 70th National Democracy Day on Wednesday by organizing a special ceremony at the Nepal Army Pavilion in the capital. President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota, National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, cabinet ministers, members of parliament, high-ranking government officials and people from various walks of life attended the ceremony.
