KATHMANDU, Feb 18: The task force formed by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) in order to reduce road accidents has proposed to provide a separate license for public transport vehicle drivers. The task force known as the Transportation Improvement Suggestion Task Force was formed to recommend measures for reducing road accidents.

KATHMANDU, Jan 28: With the failure of the plan to install embossed number plates to vehicles as per the contract agreement, the government has extended the contract with the contractor company by two years. In order to install embossed number plates in the initial phase, an agreement was signed between the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) and Decatur Tiger IT of Bangladesh on May 30, 2016 to install embossed number plates to 2,500,000 vehicles within five years, i.e. by November 27, 2023.

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: An inquiry into the distribution of smart licenses in Nepal over the past seven years has uncovered irregularities, with 73,584 out of 4 million licenses distributed under suspicion. A total of 30,000 of these licenses were granted to individuals who did not successfully pass the required written exams and trials.

KATHMANDU, May 9: Budget allocation for Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport will grow by 35 percent to Rs 137 billion for the next fiscal year which starts from mid-July.
