KATHMANDU, Jan 12: The government’s project to establish new towns in the mid-hills has not been able to gain momentum even after a decade.

DHORPATAN, Dec 12: The construction works of the Mid-Hill Highway has fallen into limbo as a contractor who was awarded the contract for blacktopping the Baglung-Akshyate-Ghodabandhe road section, the part of the national pride project, has gone out of contact.

SINDHULI, Sept 7: The Khurkot-Ghurmi road section along the Mid-Hill Highway has been obstructed due to landslides.

OKHALDHUNGA, May 27: A parliamentary committee recently inspected three under-construction concrete bridges in the Mid-Hill Highway which have been abandoned since years. The bridge of Khangsangbesi and Sokhu River in Fikal Rural Municipality as well as the Bridge of Badura River which falls in the border of Sindhuli and Udayapur were inspected by the Development and Technology Committee of the House of Representatives.

PARBAT, April 13: Crusher plants are exploiting several rivers in Parbat district under the pretext of providing construction material for the under-construction Mid-Hill Highway. It has surfaced that the crusher plants are not collecting construction materials like stones and sand not just for the highway but for elsewhere also. Many houses recently built or presently under construction in the district are being supplied construction materials by those crusher plants.
