RANJHA, Jan 20: The cases of measles are on the rise in Banke, the Terai district in Lumbini Province. According to the District Health Office, Banke’s focal person Naresh Shrestha, so far 209 measles patients have been reported from across the district.

JAJARKOT, Sept 11: Two persons were diagnosed with measles in Rawatan of Bheri Municipality-1. They were diagnosed with measles during a screening carried out with the help of the World Health Organization (WHO) after some people were found with symptoms similar to the disease, said Deepak Oli of the Health Branch of Bheri Municipality. The two detections were made in a screening carried out in 18 children.

NEW YORK, April 16: U.S. measles cases have surged again, and are on pace to set a record for most illnesses in 25 years.

There were 229,068 cases of measles and 136,000 deaths from the highly contagious disease worldwide in 2018, up 48 per cent from 2017, according to the World Health Organisation.

Measles is on the rise in Europe, with 30 countries together reporting more than 13,400 cases in the year to September 2018 – a fourfold rise over the same period two years ago.
