KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) police team has started excavating the Kamalpokhari area today to unearth the Tukucha River.

Activists staged a protest demonstration in front of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Office at Sundhara, demanding the conservation of Kamalpokhari, a historical pond in Kathmandu.

Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Kamalpokhari is garnered with a group art exhibition created by students of New Summit college/Universal College.

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Over 12 ropani of land belonging earlier to the well-known heritage site of Kamalpokhari at Thamel but captured by influential business people in the capital is now awaiting a major ruling from the Supreme Court. The 15-storey Chhaya Center complex has lately been built on the land.

Taiyab Hussain, 62, is from Bihar.  He owns a shop at Kamalpokhari. “I came to Kathmandu with my elder brother. He used to sew mattresses and blankets. I learnt the skills from him and started working with him.  We used to roam around Kathmandu sewing mattresses and blankets for a living,” he said.
