POKHARA, March 13: Businessmen in Pokhara have raised concerns regarding the tourism sector’s inability to generate expected income despite an increase in commercial competition and hotel facilities. With about 700 touristic hotels and around 40,000 beds, Pokhhara’s hospitality industry faces strong competition. Although some hotels are still under construction, the overall number of rooms is expected to rise further, intensifying the competition.

BIRATNAGAR, Feb 29: A meeting with the stakeholders held in Biratnagar on Wednesday in coordination with the Biratnagar Metropolitan City (BMC) has decided to extend the operating hours for hotels in Biratnagar until midnight.

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Investors are rapidly investing in hotels in the hope of substantial rise in the arrival of tourists.

As we bid farewell to 2023, Nepal's tourism landscape is undergoing a remarkable transformation, with the addition of 20 star hotels in the past three years. This surge in the hospitality sector, marked by the establishment of four five-star and 16 four-star hotels, signifies a positive and promising development for the nation.

KATHMANDU, Dec 31: Over the past three years, the hospitality sector in the country has witnessed significant growth, with the establishment of four five-star and 16 four-star hotels, according to data from the Department of Tourism (DoT). These additions include prominent establishments such as Hotel The Kingsbury in Birtamod, Hyatt Place in Tahachal, Ichha Hotel in Simara, and Hotel Lhasa International in Lazimpat.

GORKHA, Oct 8: Hotels in the vicinity of the Manakamana Temple in Gorkha have been asked to stop using child labor. During a monitoring, some hotels and eateries in the area were found employing underage workers.

KATHMANDU, June 20: In a significant decision, the Supreme Court (SC) has mandated the removal of approximately 500 hotels and restaurants that were constructed through encroachments on the boundaries of Fewa Lake in Pokhara. The court has ruled that the area surrounding Fewa Lake should be maintained at a distance of 65 meters, prompting the demolition of all unlawfully built structures. The order has been directed to the federal government, Pokhara metropolis, and all relevant agencies.

However, those unwilling or unable to bear such expenses have been staying at the 11 quarantines managed by Pokhara Metropolis. According to the Paschimanchal Hotel Association, these 86 people came from 12 different countries,  including the United Arab Emirates, the Maldives, Korea, Australia, Qatar, Malaysia and India.
