DHARAN, Nov 9: The 43rd senate meeting of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) has been cancelled after Health Minister Upendra Yadav exerted pressure on acting vice-chancellor of BPKIHS, Dr Guru Khanal, to recommend Dr BN Yadav, the minister's son's to-be father-in-law, for the post of registrar.

A number of anomalies in public and private health institutes are being reported in recent times but the Ministry of Health under Upendra Yadav does not seem to be doing anything substantive to curb them and hold to account those who are neglecting their duties. One such mess recently reported concerns neglect of patients in Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU, Oct 20: The National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) has deferred the entrance exam of medical education that was scheduled for Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The members of parliament (MPs) from the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have accused Health Minister Upendra Yadav of not doing enough to tackle the dengue outbreak. Speaking at the parliament on Wednesday, MPs said that the outbreak of mosquito-borne disease could have been prevented had the Ministry of Health and Population responded with urgency in time.
