KATHMANDU, Oct 15: The first day of Navaratri (annual Hindu festival observed in honor of the goddess Durga) is being marked today by preparing Jamara (barley shoots) by sowing maize and barley seeds in an earthen pot filled with soil. On the occasion of Ghatasthapana, the first day of the festival, jamara was placed in Hanuman Dhoka’s Dashain Ghar by holding a special ceremony on Sunday.

Similarly, on the occasion of Ghatasthapana, the first day of the festival, jamara was placed in Hanuman Dhoka’s Dashain Ghar by holding a special ceremony on Monday.
