Today marks International Women’s Day, a day that draws global attention to the ongoing struggle for gender equality. One of the greatest obstacles toward equality is the crisis of violence against women and girls -- the most widespread human rights violation of our time.

However, a long journey is yet to be made for women's leadership development, equitable access and distribution of opportunities as well as for economic progress.

Women’s agency and dignity is not a matter of women only. It is our collective issue. A woman makes and shapes a family and a community. Her role is decisive for the health and wellbeing of any household. So is the role of a man. Women’s rights and equality is not a war against men. Men are already on board in this. We need to raise our sons right to make it happen for everyone.

KATHMANDU, March 27: The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member institution of the World Bank Group, has joined hands with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) to organize ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality.’

KATHMANDU, March 6: With a number of gender equality movements and initiatives including Beijing Declaration taken over the past several years, there is a popular belief that the ‘glass ceiling’ which exists against women is getting thinner and smaller.
