KATHMANDU, Jan 28: With the failure of the plan to install embossed number plates to vehicles as per the contract agreement, the government has extended the contract with the contractor company by two years. In order to install embossed number plates in the initial phase, an agreement was signed between the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) and Decatur Tiger IT of Bangladesh on May 30, 2016 to install embossed number plates to 2,500,000 vehicles within five years, i.e. by November 27, 2023.

According to reports, the number of vehicles registered in the province until mid-November of 2021 alone is more than 1.7 million.

KATHMANDU, June 6: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Kumar Thapa has expressed concern over a notice issued by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management regarding the installation of embossed number plates on vehicles. Earlier, the Department of Transport Management under the ministry issued a notice stating that embossed number plates are a must for vehicles registered in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and such number plates must be affixed to all vehicles registered in these two provinces by mid-July.
