BEDKOT, June 4: An agreement reached between Nepal and India to construct a dry port at Dodhara Chandani in Kanchanpur has sent waves of happiness to the locals.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, April 28: The government has expedited preparations to bring back into operation the Tatopani border point between Nepal and China that remains closed for the last four years following the devastating earthquake of 2015 in May. According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the border point is going to be reopened as soon as the dry port at Larcha, Tatopani, is handed over to the Nepal government.

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Police have arrested 30 people protesting against the construction of the dry port at Chobhar of Kirtipur municipality-6.  The protestors were arrested after they flagged off Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, according to Hobindra Bogati, the spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range.

The government, through the budget for Fiscal Year 2013/14, announced plans to build an international-standard exhibition hall and a dry port on the land of the defunct Himal Cement Factory in Chobhar. But the project has failed to take off. Nepal Intermodal Transportation Development Board (NITDB), under the Ministry of Commerce, was assigned the task of implementing the project with financial support of US$ 22 million from the World Bank.

RASUWA, Oct 27: Construction of dry port at Timure in Rasuwagadhi, a custom point between Nepal and China, has failed to start. Though the construction was slated to start in October, the Chinese side is yet to begin the works. The reason behind the delay is not clear.
