KATHMANDU, Nov 12: A high-level panel formed to study disputes seen at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan submitted its report to Prime Minister and BPKIHS Chancellor Sher Bahadur Deuba.
DHARAN, Oct 21: The house of a local resident, Uttam Shrestha, caught fire at Fusre Chowk, Ward 13 of Dharan Sub-metropolis at around 10:30 today morning. “The fire was brought under control about an hour and a half after it broke out with the help of police, armed police, army, locals and fire brigade,” said DSP Narendra Kunwar of the Area Police Office, Dharan.

BIRATNAGAR, June 23: After infecting hundreds of people in Dharan, the dengue outbreak has started spreading aggressively in other parts of eastern Tarai including Biratnagar, the capital of Province 1.
On May 24, a 29-years old lady visited Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital (STIDH) for medical and laboratory tests after she was diagnosed of dengue in Dharan. STIDH’s test confirmed dengue. She had developed high fever, nausea, severe joint pain, rash, body ache but there was no history of pain behind the eyes. She said that several others in her town had showed similar symptoms. This was the first observation of beginning of dengue outbreak in Dharan.
DHARAN, June 11: Five days ago, a search and destroy campaign was launched in Dharan to bring the dengue outbreak under control. Local representatives, health workers and various organisations were actively involved in destroying the larva of the mosquitoes that transmit dengue.
DHARAN, June 7: After failing to control the spread of dengue in Dharan, Nepal Provincial Health Directorate (PHD) has said the disease has become an epidemic and declared some wards of Dharan Sub-metropolitan city as crisis-hit areas.

KATHMANDU, April 8: Work on Koshi Corridor Transmission Line has resumed after the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has resolved differences with the locals of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.
According to officials of the power utility, the local unit now has no objection over building transmission line on the route finalized by the NEA.
