KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Nepali authorities should urgently bolster public health systems that struggled during a dengue fever outbreak in recent months, Human Rights Watch said on Tuesday. Dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases are projected to become more widespread and severe in Nepal as a result of warming temperatures linked to climate change.

KATHMANDU, Nov 29: With the onset of the winter season, the risk of the dengue infection in the Kathmandu Valley has decreased significantly. The drop in the temperature means that the mosquitoes that spread dengue cannot survive and thus pose less risk to human health.

CHITWAN, Nov 15: Six people have died of dengue in Chitwan so far in the current fiscal year. The victims were from and outside the district, according to the Health Office, Chitwan.

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: Journalist Chandani Adhikari passed away due to the dengue infection. Adhikari, working at Radio Bhotewodar, Lamjung, contracted dengue and was admitted to the Lamjung Model Hospital on November 1.

BHARATPUR, Oct 28: The number of dengue cases has crossed 2,000 in Chitwan, the District Health Office Chitwan said. The office stated that dengue has been confirmed in 2,164 persons till October 27. Dengue tests were conducted on 8,853 samples during this period and 2,164 of these samples were tested dengue-positive.

KAVREPALANCHOWK, July 18: Three dengue cases have been spotted in Kavrepalanchok district after three years, according to health workers. A 68-year-old man of Panauti Municipality-5 in the district infected with the dengue virus has been receiving treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital for the past two days, said Purushottam Timalsina, chief of the health section at Panauti. His health is improving, he added.

GALKOT, July 12: With the rising temperature, Baglung district has recorded dengue of late. The disease transmitted by the mosquito bite was found among two persons.

JHAPA, Dec 4: A total of nine dengue patients have been found in two local levels in Jhapa district recently. Five cases were reported in Birtamode Municipality and four in Mechinagar Municipality, according to the record maintained at the Department of Health at Birtamode Municipality.

CHITWAN, Dec 25: Of the patients who visited the District Hospital, Chitwan since July this year, 243 have been confirmed to have contracted dengue and 286 are scrub typhus patients, said the hospital.

POKHARA, Sept 18: Tourism entrepreneurs in Pokhara are worried about the spread of dengue in the city during the peak tourist season. The entrepreneurs' nightmare has turned into reality after some foreign tourists cancelled their Pokhara visit in view of the rising cases of dengue. Businesspersons have urged the government to take adequate measures against dengue to make the people feel safe. They have also asked the media not to leave the people panicked by 'misinforming about the disease'.

DAMAK, Sept 18: Dengue virus which entered Nepal for the first time in 2004 through an infected foreigner has now affected more than 5,000 people across the country.
