KATHMANDU, July 21: The Amnesty International (AI) has urged the Nepali authorities to immediately halt the forced eviction of Chepang Indigenous people from their settlements and ensure those responsible for the destruction of ten homes are held accountable.

CHITWAN, July 24: Popularly known as Ronaldo, a wild elephant has stolen people’s peace of mind in settlements near the Chitwan National Park. On Monday night it wreaked havoc in Janakpur village of Khairhani Municipality – 12. Ronaldo entered a resident, Homenath Dhamala’s house and scattered off around four quintals of rice in store.

CHITWAN, March 25: On Sunday a female rhino in Chitwan breathed her last. She was spotted dead near a septic tank of a hotel in Jagatpur, Bharatpur Municipality – 23. With this, the number of rhinos to die in Chitwan in the last nine months has reached 41.

There are two species of Belgium Shepherd and two Labrador retrievers. While the Belgium shepherds are being kept for ‘tracking’, Labradors are for ‘sniffing’ purposes.
CHITWAN, Dec 22: A rhino has died after falling into a swamp land. The incident took place in ward no. 24 of Bharatpur metropolis on Friday. The rhino had strayed away from the Chitwan National Park area to enter into human settlement near the community forest.
CHITWAN, Nov 4: The Chitwan National Park (CNP) lacks a male elephant for breeding thus forcing dependence on wild elephants for the purpose. Two wild elephants named Ronaldo and Dhurbe are currently available in the CNP for mating. Rolando is available in the eastern area, while Dhurbe in the western area.
