KATHMANDU, Dec 3: Staffers at Nepal’s premier health institution, Bir Hospital, have continued their protest for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday demanding the fulfilment of promises made earlier to provide them with incentives and proper safety equipment during the work.
KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Agitating doctors, health officials, and staffers at Bir Hospital in Kathmandu have obstructed senior officials at the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) from entering the hospital.
Refuting media reports about the alleged encroachment of Nepali territory by China in Humla district, the government said that there is no disputes over territory between Nepal and China. Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali, who is also the government's spokesperson, said a similar news about land encroachment from Chinese side in Limi village in Humla district had surfaced four years ago as well. He said that an inter-ministerial team after the field inspection had concluded that the said buildings were located approximately one kilometer inside the Chinese territory from the Nepal-China border. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), in a separate statement, further said the boundary between Nepal and China was delineated and demarcated based on the Boundary Treaty and Boundary Protocols signed between the two countries.
KATHMANDU, July 28: Although the construction of a new 100-bed building of the country's old hospital, Bir Hospital, was completed two weeks ago, it has not come into operation in a lack of staffers to run the building and render the services.
KATHMANDU, July 12: The newly-constructed buildings of Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital and Bir Hospital were handed over to the government on Friday. The buildings have been built with the financial assistance of the Japanese government.

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: The oldest hospital in the country, Bir Hospital, is in the process of getting a separate well-equipped building for surgery within the next two years. The proposed nine-storey building will have 15 operation theatres.
