BANEPA, July 4: The BP highway has been opened for traffic after the obstruction caused due to floods in Mamti river in Roshi rural municipality was cleared. One-way traffic has been resumed with the joint efforts of police, the rural municipality, road project and locals.
KATHMANDU, Jan 28: The Government of Japan has officially handed over the BP Highway to Nepal after completing the reconstruction of the road segment which was damaged by the earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, 2015.
SINDHULI, April 6: Pappu Mandal who was spotted at Shantinagar, Sindhuli, along the BP Highway on Saturday evening, looked clearly tired. Yet he was walking at a slow pace. A local of Hanuman Nagar of Saptari district, Mandal said that he has been walking for the past four days and has to continue walking until he reaches home. "From Kathmandu, it's been four days. Now, still more to walk to Saptari, my home," he said. "After this lockdown, no work in Kathmandu, no option than to leave," added the daily wage-earner.
It was 7:30 am and BP Highway, that links Kathmandu Valley with the Eastern Terai region at Bhaktapur was jam packed with vehicles. The exact location from Chundevi to Adharsa Jagati, which had never seen such a traffic jam in normal days, except for Dashain, was congested on Sunday.
SINDHULI, Nov 3: Solabhanjyang–Sindhuligadhi section of the BP Highway blacktopped just three months ago has begun to wear off. Cracks and holes are visible at different parts of the highway section speaking volumes about the quality of the work done on it.
SINDHULI, Oct 31: Until a few years ago, tourists used to find it hard to get a moderate hotel to stay in Mulkot. Now, Mulkot offers around a dozen of standard hotels thanks to the link with the BP Highway. In fact, some more are also being constructed. According to Dirbu Singh Moktan, chairperson of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, where Mulkot lies, investment for hotels in Mulkot is remarkable.
BANEPA, Sept 18: The landslide triggered by incessant rainfall has completely halted the vehicular movement in and around Panchkhal municipality, Chaunnakilo and Dolalghat of Bhumlu rural municipality along the Araniko highway.
SINDHULI, Jan 31: With the increasing number of vehicles along this vital highway, various places along the Banepa-Bardibas section of BP Highway have developed numerous cracks and bumps, making travelling risky. The shoddy repair work carried out recently along various sections of the highway has made the road even more dangerous.
