KATHMANDU, March 19: Lawmakers have emphasized that both the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) are crucial for the development of the region. In Monday's House of Representatives meeting, they suggested that neither organization should overshadow the other.

Modi may visit Nepal again this year

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Amid concerns that the relations between Nepal and India had seen a hiccup again after the decision of Kathmandu not to participate in the BIMSTEC military drill earlier this month, it has been learnt that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could visit Nepal by November-end.

The decision of the government not to participate in BIMSTEC military drill and Nepal signing protocol to Trade and Transit Agreement with China may have been appreciated within Nepal but the two developments have also drawn attention of many quarters including India.

General Bipin Rawat was speaking to the media after the concluding ceremony of BIMSTEC MILEX-18, a joint military exercise of BIMSTEC member nations, which was underway in Pune from September 10.
