A meeting of around two-dozen youth leaders held at Babarmahal on Saturday morning formed a six-member panel comprising two leaders from each of the major parties to forge a common minimum understanding among the parties. [break]
The panel includes Barshaman Pun and Janardan Sharma from the UCPN (Maoist), Chandra Bhandari and NP Saud from the NC and Ghanashyam Bhusal and Prakash Jwala from the UML UML.
The panel will prepare a draft of common understanding on constitution writing and peace process and submit it to Speaker Subas Nembang and top leaders of the major three parties.
The youth leaders have agreed that the CA must be safeguarded as its absence would create a constitutional vacuum and push the country toward anarchy.
The meeting comes in the wake of main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) and Madhes-based parties deciding not to support CA term extension without a credible basis for the completion of the constitution writing and peace process.
Talking to media persons, UML youth leader Yogesh Bhattarai said, “We expect to help our party leadership arrive at consensus on the issue of CA term extension,” he said.

Maoist leader Shakti Basnet said they have decided to give continuity to the meetings so as to positively contribute to the constitution writing and peace process.
“We have decided to further work out on issues and provide suggestions to our respective party leadership,” he said. Basnet said that some of the demands raised by NC are genuine.
