Youth Forum on Green Economy begins

KATHMANDU, Sept 27: The five day seminar, Asia-Pacific Graduates’ Youth Forum on Green Economy, began on September 25 at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) headquarters, Khumaltar.



40 young people from 15 different nations in the Asia-Pacific region such as Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Nepal came together under one roof to engage in the forum which is being organized by The Small Earth Nepal (SEN), the Consortium for Capacity Building (CCB) at INSTAAR at the University of Colorado, Boulder and the Asia Pacific Mountain Network (APMN) of ICIMOD.[break]



With capacity building and knowledge exchange sessions, leadership exercises and excursions to local environmental project sites, during the five daylong seminar, the youth dedicated to sustainability issues can achieve sustainability within a green economy exchange ideas and knowledge on achieving sustainability within a green economy.



On the basis of the conference and the commitment shown by the participants, four young people will be selected to represent the region at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s (UNFCCC) 18th session of Conference of the Parties (COP-18) in Doha, Qatar in 2013.
