Yeti Airlines sponsors Himalayan Sherpa

KATHMANDU, April 24: Himalayan Sherpa Club, the first division football club, inked a main sponsorship deal with Yeti Airlines amidst a function in the capital on Monday.



As per the deal, Himalayan Sherpa will get a purse of Rs 1.5 million while the club will henceforth be named Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club.[break]



Karma Tshering Sherpa, the president of Himalayan Sherpa Club and Norbu Sherpa, the deputy executive director of Yeti Airlines signed the deal on behalf of their respective institutions.



Similarly, JPR Events and Everest Beer were announced as the co-sponsors of the club. As the co-sponsors, JPR Events and Everest Beer will provide the club with a cash of Rs 300,000 and Rs 200,000 respectively. The annual budget of the club is Rs eight million.



Himalayan Sherpa, established in 2005, were promoted to the first division in 2008 and won three major titles in the very first season (current season) after its recognition in the top flight in 2009\\2010. It won the San Miguel Knockout Football Tournament in its debut in the top flight in October and they also lifted the trophy of Simara Gold Cup Football Tournament held at Simara, Bara and Workers Martyrs Memorial Cup held at Hetauda few months earlier.



The jersey of the club will carry logos of the main sponsor and co-sponsors.



Speaking on the occasion, Himalayan Sherpa President Karma Tshering said that the main target of the club was to win the league titles and also vowed that the club will not let down the trust sponsors have on the team.



Sales and Marketing Director of the Airlines Pradeep Bikram Shah said that the motive behind sponsoring the club was to support the development of the club and Nepali football.



JPR Events representatives Sunil Hamal and Sital Singh and Everest Beer representative Kapil Satyal were also present on the occasion.



Addressing the function, ANFA President Ganesh Thapa lauded the club for making a giant stride within a very short time of its establishment. “I am hopeful that all A division clubs will get sponsors by the completion of league,” Thapa said.



Meanwhile, the club also revealed its jersey for the upcoming league. The Martyrs Memorial League Football is scheduled to begin from Wednesday.



The coaching job of the club is taken by Upendra Man Singh, the former national captain and assistant coach of the national team. The national team captain Sagar Thapa is the captain of the club.
