ACHHAM, August 13: Two people sleeping in a chhaugoth—a place where women are traditionally sent to stay during menstruation—were crushed to death by a rock that fell from a cliff, while another person was injured. According to police, the two died on the spot.

Om Prakash Khanal, Chief of the District Police Office (DPO) in Achham, told RSS that 35-year-old Nim Khanal from Churkhole Tole, Selapani and 7-year-old Kabita, daughter of Gore Bhandari from Mangalsen Municipality-6, were sleeping in the Chhaugoth when a rock fell on them this morning. Kabita’s mother, who was injured, has been taken to a local health post for treatment.
DSP Khanal said a team led by Police Inspector Tek Bahadur Deuba has departed from the DPO to the site.
