Wushu team off to Pokhara for SAG

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Nepali wushu team on Friday left for Pokhara, Kaski, to undergo final phase of training for 12th South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in India.



Altogether 17 Nepali players will compete in the event. Nine players, including six male and three female players, will compete in sansou while eight players, including four male and female each, will compete in taolu.

Men's players to qualify for sansou are 10th SAG gold medalist Raj Kumar Rasaili (52 kg), Rajesh Chaudhary (56 kg), Mangal Prasad Tharu (60 kg), Saroj Pun (65 kg), Chitra Singh Thakuri (70 kg) and Dhanbir Maharjan (75 kg). Similarly, female players Jharana Gurung (52 kg), Juni Rai (60 kg) and Bindu Magar (70 kg) will compete in the sub-continental event.


Bijay Sinjali, Yubaraj Thapa, Hari Gole and Bishwa Buda Magar are male taolu players and Sushmita Tamang, Nima Gharti Magar, Sabita Rai and Osin Rai are women players for the event. National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista bade farewell to the team and also cautioned players to maintain discipline and integrity in the team.
