The teachers´ day is being observed every year on October 5 since 1994. The theme for this year´s celebration is "Recovery begins with the teachers".[break]
In a statement released to mark the occasion, President of Nepal Teachers´ Association, who is also the Vice-Chair of the SAARC Teachers Federation, Mohan Gyawali has stressed on the need of skilled and trained teachers for quality education.
Encouraging qualified and talented people to take up the teaching profession through professional guarantee, stability and ensuring career development in the need of the day, Gyawali has said in the statement.
World Teacher’s Day is celebrated across the world on October 5 with great verve and enthusiasm. Ever since the importance of teachers has been recognized by UNESCO, by adopting the “Recommendation concerning the status of teachers”, World Teacher’s Day has been celebrated annually. This includes celebrations to honor the teachers for their special contribution in a particular field area or the community in general.
