Women craft producers off to Myanmar

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: A team of 16 women embarked on an official visit to Myanmar on Friday at the invitation of the Nepali embassy in Yangon. The team is led by Sarojani Sherchan, vice chairperson of SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC).

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: A team of 16 women embarked on an official visit to Myanmar on Friday at the invitation of the Nepali embassy in Yangon. The team is led by Sarojani Sherchan, vice chairperson of SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC).

The team will exhibit Nepali hand products in Burma, according to a statement issued on Friday. "Members of the team will exhibit products like handicrafts, Lapsi (hog plum) candy, assorted Nepali clips, glass beads (pote), bangles, bed covers, cushion covers, Nepali Daura Suruwal, cholis, locally made velvet slippers, embroidered hand bags, and bronze products, among others," read the statement issued by the chamber. 


The exhibition will be held on August 31 and September 1 at the Nepali Embassy in Yangon and on September 4 in Pyin Oo Lin city. “The team will also promote Nepal in Myanmar ahead of the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign," the chamber added in the statement.
