The young lady, identified as Bhagwati KC, originally from Hastichaur-9 of Gulmi district, was arrested from New Delhi, as the police launched a hunt following a complaint from the parents of a boy who had been missing from Kathmandu for more than a week. The police traced the boy in India along with KC, who had lured him to accompany her to New Delhi. Throughout their travel, the lady had made the boy demand cash from his family. The two were traced in India with the help of the facebook accounts of the two.
According to Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Teku, the two had first stayed at Hotel Panda in Kathmandu and then traveled to various places in Nepal on a motorbike. After reaching Nepal-India border, the lady persuaded the boy to travel to India with her.
"The lady used her shrewd voice and beauty to defraud men to avenge the ordeals inflicted on her by other men," said the SSP Sarbendra Khanal, chief of Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Teku. According to the division, more than six complaints had been registered against her in the past.
"I was duped by several men in the past, therefore, I decided to dupe men," the lady told the police during the interrogation.
KC has been found to use at least three fake names--Dr Suhana, Aditi and Sristi KC--in order to defraud men, including doctors, artists and hotel operators, mainly from Kathmandu and Pokhara. She had been cheating men since the last few years, according to SP Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, spokesperson of the Division said.
SP Thapa also said that the lady used at least six facebook accounts, more than nine mobile numbers, fake viber number, among others, to defraud boys and men.
On one ocassion, KC lived in a high-end hotel identifying herself as the daughter of Deputy Inspector General Sanat KC of Nepal Police without paying the bills. Before checking into the hotel she made a man call the hoteliers and identify himself as DIGP KC before ordering them to take better care of her.
KC also often posed as a medical doctor, lived with doctors, and claimed to have married a doctor. She borrowed various goods from stores and dined at restaurants in Pokhara without paying bills, according to the police.
After a news story related to her was published in a newspaper in Pokhara, she moved to Kathmandu to continue her unlawful activities. She was arrested by Metropolitan Police Range Office, Lalitpur on a separate charge about a year ago and freed after a day in judicial custody. KC has been sent to Metropolitan Police Range Office for further investigations.
