KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Nepali Congress has asserted that it will strongly react to the government if it continued exhibiting its arrogance on the Medical Education Bill.

A Central Working Committee meeting of the NC held in Sanepa has decided to strongly protest against the government if it did not maintain flexibility on its stance on the Medical Education Bill.

NC has decided to float three options as a solution to the existing stalemate seen recently in the parliament on the Medical Education Bill.

These options mulled by NC include implementation of the Mathema proposal in a letter and spirit, or the agreement reached with Dr KC at the initiation of Subash Nembang or the agreement reached with KC during his 15th hunger strike.

The ruling Nepal Communist Party is determined to endorse the Medical Education Bill on Friday.

Speaking at an interaction organized by Reporters Club on Wednesday, NCP standing committee member Yogesh Bhattarai had said that his party would endorse the Medical Education Bill even by force if the NC lawmakers barred the minister from tabling the bill on Friday.

“The education minister will present the bill from his seat itself if he were barred from reaching the rostrum,” Bhattarai had said, referring to the precedent set by the NC during Ram Chandra Paudel’s tenure as speaker.

On January 22, NC lawmakers had barred Minister for Education Giriraj Mani Pokharel from tabling the Medical Education Bill in the parliament.

Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara had then adjourned the parliament meeting for Friday amid hullabaloo and obstructions created by the NC lawmakers.
