According to a press statement received here on Friday, the seminar is aimed at promoting dialogue and increasing awareness about the challenges, strategies and institutional arrangements needed to provide humanitarian assistance in a post conflict situation.

“We think it is important for decision-makers to have the best information possible on the humanitarian challenges they might face,” the statement quotes Richard Ragan, WFP Country Representative to Nepal, as saying. “First and foremost, the Government has the responsibility for providing humanitarian solutions, and our goal in this seminar is to better equip the country’s leaders to deal with the difficult and often very complex issues affecting people in crisis.”

More than 200 leaders from the police, the army and the business community have received similar training as a part of this seminar series.
