Water Park defeated Gandaki Boarding High School, Kaski, 2-1 during their last group match to advance as group A runners up. Bimala Chaudhary scored in either halves for Water Park. Chaudhary opened the scoring in 15th minute but Babita Thapa leveled the scoring in the 30th minute to make the match entertaining. Chaudhary scored second in the 54th minute to seal the team´s victory. Jana Jyoti, Rautahat are the group winners.
Likewise, Radhika played a 1-1 draw against Thekraj High School, Dhangadi to make it through to the semifinal as group B winner. Laxmi Chaudhary put Thekraj ahead in the 27th minute but Indira Rai equalized the match in the 56th minute. Thekraj also made it through to the semis as group B runners up.
In boy´s section, Siddhartha Vanasthali, Kathmandu, made it through to the semifinals after Little Flowers´ English School, Jhapa, was defeated by Social Public School, Kaski, 3-0 in their last league match.
Despite the victory, Social crashed out of the tournament as they collected only three points while Vanasthali have added four points from equal two matches played.
Little Flowers,´ the only team from Jhapa district to qualify for the final round of the tournament needed two goals margin victory to secure a semifinal spot. But their chances slimmed after they conceded an early goal in the 7th minute through Biswas Nepali of Social. Likewise, Sujan Gurung netted another in the 44th minute and Susan Gurung added another in the 66th minute to ensure the victory.
Earlier, Suryajyoti Higher Secondary School, Surkhet, thrashed Environment Higher Secondary School, Rupandehi, 6-1. Prem Soni scored twice for Suryajyoti in the 29th and 62nd minute while Yadav Khatri, Dhan Bahadur BK, Nara Bahadur Thapa and Shiva Ram Budha netted one each in the 35th, 65th, 68th and 70th minute respectively.
Similarly, Sramik Shanti Higher Secondary School, Lalitpur, beat Bhagwati Higher Secondary School, Morang, 2-1. Saroj Ranamagar and Surya Kumar Guragain scored for Sramik in the 22nd and 52nd minute respectively. Subash Limbu pulled one back for Bhagwati in the 68th minute.
Gyalsen Computer Lab gets charity
Fans of Football Nepal (FFN) and Nepal Sports Journalist Forum (NSJF) handed over six computers and a television set to Mangaldeep School on Tuesday for establishing a computer lab in the school in the memory of young Footballer Gyalsen Lama, who died during a match of Coca-Cola Cup Interschool Boys Football Tournament on July 5.[break]
FFN and NSJF have played a charity football match on July 31 and collected Rs 2, 50,075 from various persons and institutions. Of the total proceeds, Rs 37,305 raised by Nepal´s former national footballer Pralaya Rajbhandari in the US was handed over to Gyalsen´s father through the Mangaldeep School on the day of the football match while from the rest computers and TV set were handed to the school on Tuesday.
FFN Coordinators Suman Rayamajhi, Suvash Thapa and Chandan Tamrakar as well as NSJF President Niranjan Rajbanshi and Vice-president Sanjeeb Shilpakar handed over the computers and TV set to school´s Chairman Karma Lama and Vice-principal Jhabindra Kumar Subedi.
Gyalsen, a 15-year-old boy from Gorkha district, was student of Mangaldeep School, Bauddha.
