Vote count begins in 129 local units

KATHMANDU, May 15: Vote counting has begun in 129 local units of the total 281, the Election Commission said.

KATHMANDU, May 15: Vote counting has begun in 129 local units of the total 281, the Election Commission said.


Election returning officers are counting votes in local units bringing ballot boxes from various polling centers of the units. Returning officers need to collect ballot boxes and reach consensus among parties contesting in the elections.

 Helicopters are airlifting ballot boxes from mountainous districts. EC Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma said helicopters are deployed to Rasuwa, Dhading, Dolpa, Humla, Gorkha and Mugu districts. "It will take time to collect ballot boxes from Dolpa and Humla," said EC Spokesperson Sharma.


In Kathmandu valley, vote counting has begun in all local units.  


According to him vote count has completed in Manang although the local returning offices are yet to announce election results officially.
