KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The Supreme Court (SC) is expected to announce the verdict on the case against Agni Prasad Sapkota, former speaker and vice chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), today.
The case was filed by Purnimaya Lama, who alleges that Sapkota was involved in the murder of her husband, Arjun Lama, in 2005. The final hearing took place before a constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha and Justices Prakash Man Singh Raut, Sapana Pradhan Malla, Prakash Kumar Dhungana, and Kumar Regmi.

Initially scheduled for June 26, the decision was postponed. The court will issue its ruling on this high-profile case today. Arjun Lama, chairman of the Krishna Secondary School Management Committee in Chhatrabunj, Kavre, was killed during the Maoist conflict in April 2005.
