KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Locals have blocked the road after the death of a woman riding a scooter following a collision with a truck in Thankot.


A scooter (Ba 88 Pa 7955) on its way from Kalanki to Nagdhunga was hit by a truck (Pra 3-01-006 Kha 1308) going in the same direction at around 3 PM on Friday at Thankot, Kharibot area.

Shridhar Bhurtel, 40, resident of Chandragiri-2 Nagdhunga and his wife Asmita Bhandari were seriously injured when the truck hit them.


They were taken to Medicity Hospital for treatment. While Asmita died during the treatment last night, her husband is currently undergoing treatment, said SP Kumodh Dhungel, spokesperson of District Police Range, Kathmandu.


Locals have blocked Nagdhunga road on Saturday morning protesting against her death. Dozens of local people who were present at Kharibot, Thankot and Nagadhunga checkpoint blocked the road for some time in the morning.
