KATHMANDU, Sept 23: The United States, through USAID, has launched a $21 million Agricultural Direct Financing project aimed at improving food security in Nepal. The project, introduced alongside the US Government’s new Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS) Nepal Country Plan 2024-2028, will strengthen agricultural development across Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The initiative will benefit 69,000 households, covering 53,000 hectares of land, by promoting the adoption of new technologies and agricultural practices. The strategy also expands the US’s agriculture development efforts to Madhesh Province, focusing on reaching the most vulnerable populations in Nepal.
