Unidentified group tears sample ballot papers

BAGLUNG, Nov 19: An unidentified group seized and tore sample ballot papers in Baglung on Saturday, while they were being taken to Nishikhola Rural Municipality-3 for educating the voters.

BAGLUNG, Nov 19: An unidentified group seized and tore sample ballot papers in Baglung on Saturday, while they were being taken to Nishikhola Rural Municipality-3 for educating the voters.

As informed by Nirmaya Shahi, returning officer of Nishikhola- 3, a group of unknown people circled the election officers nearby a forest in Nishikhola-3 and captured the sample ballot papers and election related posters. "They told us that they were the cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN-Maoist and tore the election materials," she said, adding, "They even threatened to take action against us if we are found giving election related information to the voters." According to her, those people were also trying to burn their personal belongings as well but could not do so as they didn't find anything to burn.


A police team from Jhiwakhola immediately reached the incident site for investigation. "We have already sent some officers to the incident site for investigation but it is yet to be confirmed whether it was done by Chand's cadres," said DSP Bishwaraj Singh Thapa, Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Baglung.
