UN condemns Janakpur blast

KATHMANDU, May 1: The United Nations Country Team has strongly condemned Monday´s bomb blast in Janakpur that killed four people.



"The United Nations Country Team in Nepal is deeply saddened by this attack and would like to convey its condolences to the families of the victims and to wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured," said Robert Piper, United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, in a statement. [break]



The UN Country Team also urged the government to take all necessary steps to conduct what it said were thorough and impartial investigations into the incident in accordance with national and international law.



Similarly, Piper also said the UN Country Team stands firmly behind the efforts of political parties to complete the constitution drafting process.
