KATHMANDU, May 9: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has told Pokhara residents that there will not be any development in the region if the UML loses the local elections. Addressing an election assembly in Pokhara on Monday, Oli shared that the UML is sure to emerge victorious in the federal and provincial elections and that the people should favor the party in the local level elections as well. Or else, the municipality will not move toward development, Oli said.
"Who will win the next parliamentary election? UML will,” Oli said. “Who will win with a majority in the provinces? UML will. However, if the UML forms a government with a majority at the center and in the provinces and loses in the municipality, then the policies, plans and budget of the center will be rejected by the local level,” he said.
Reduce number of ministries in provincial governments
Therefore, the UML should win at the federal, provincial and local levels in the upcoming elections, he said.
“Pushpa Kamal Dahal threatened the public in Chitwan by asking them to vote for his daughter Renu Dahal saying ‘or else an accident will occur in the country’,” Oli said. He accused Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal of threatening the Nepali Congress and the people.
He also accused them of leaving NC without any principles. He accused the NC leadership of making the party unprincipled and destinationless by not allowing its cadres to cast their votes on the tree symbol. “NC did not allow the people of Bharatpur to cast their votes on the tree in the last election as well. Now they are being deprived of voting independently again. For Dahal’s daughter, the NC leadership is making the party unprincipled and without a goal,” Oli said.
