KATHMANDU, April 20: Senior leader of CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal has called a meeting of lawmakers close to him after the party’s president and parliamentary party leader KP Oli sought clarifications from them asking why they should be not relieved from their positions of the party’s lawmakers.
The lawmakers close to the Nepal-led faction said senior leader Nepal has called a meeting to forge their strategy as Chairman Oli is bent on relieving them from the post of lawmakers. The meeting is scheduled to be held at a hotel in New Baneshwar.
Earlier on Tuesday, Chairman Oli sought clarification from 27 lawmakers close to Nepal in the federal parliament and four other lawmakers choosing to cross the floor in the Karnali Province as a part of the preparation to expel them from the party. They have been given a two-day deadline to furnish their clarifications.
Leaders close to Oli said preparations are being made to expel from the party all the leaders who have been asked to submit clarification. A Central Committee meeting of the UML scheduled for Friday will take a decision to expel them from the party as the Oli-led faction believes that these lawmakers will choose to cross the floor in case no-confidence motions are introduced against chief ministers in various provincial assemblies and against the prime minister in the federal parliament.
