KATHMANDU, July 19: With the disputes growing among the political parties, the ruling CPN-UML is mulling a middle way solution to the current political crisis.

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPN-UML underway at Baluwatar on Tuesday is expected to come up with an intermediary solution to the present political deadlock.

In the meeting UML is likely to dwell on a proposal according to which Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will resign from his post first, endorse the remaining Bills on the budget with the consent of the political parties, form a consensus government and thereby implementing the constitution, said a high-level UML source.

“The political parties have to forge a deal in a package on the upcoming three levels of elections – local, provincial and federal, including the formation of new government,” said a SC member told Repblica Online.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a Standing Committee meeting to dwell on the latest political decision.

The meeting has been called five days after the Nepali Congress-Maoist Center alliance registered a no-confidence motion against the Oli government.

The parties have been deeply polarized after the ruling coalition CPN (Maoist Center) withdrew its support to the government and registered a no-confidence motion against it forming an alliance with the NC.
