UML leads Maoist Center with 378 votes in Bharatpur Metropolis

CHITWAN, May 16: CPN-UML is still maintaining lead in the vote counting of the mayoral elections in Bharatpur Metropolitan City.   According to vote count results as of Tuesday night, UML candidate Devi Gyawali has secured 1, 513 while his rival of CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Renu Dahal has got 1,135 votes.

CHITWAN, May 16: CPN-UML is still maintaining lead in the vote counting of the mayoral elections in Bharatpur Metropolitan City.   According to vote count results as of Tuesday night, UML candidate Devi Gyawali has secured 1, 513 while his rival of CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Renu Dahal has got 1,135 votes.


For the post of deputy mayor, Nepali Congress Parbati Shah is ahead of her competitors with 1,401 votes while UML candidate Dibya Sharma has secured 1,188 votes.


Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s daughter Renu Dahal is contesting the mayoral elections at the backing of NC. UML candidate Gyawali has been taking lead since the beginning.

 Even though, CPN (MC) was reported to be taking lead until Monday night, UML is leading again since Tuesday morning.


Gyawali has widened the lead margin of 378 from Tuesday evening.


Some votes cast for Renu have been declared invalid.  The vote counting is taking place at Bharatpur Municpallitiy-1.


General people are curiously watching the election results of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.


Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had urged the people to cast votes as per the electoral alliance forged between NC and CPN (MC).
