KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The Lalitpur district chapter of the ruling CPN-UML has requested Prime Minister KP Oli to facilitate the recovery of lives impacted by the recent floods, landslides, and inundation by providing the district administration with Rs 3 billion.
On Wednesday, the district committee submitted a letter to PM Oli at his residence in Baluwatar, whereby it commended the government for effectively conducting search, rescue, and relief operations following the monsoon disaster, while urging attention to the rehabilitation and repair of highways, major roads, and communication infrastructure in Lalitpur district.

Chairman of the district chapter Purushottam Acharya called for a budget allocation of at least Rs 3 billion for the reconstruction efforts in Lalitpur. It has been reported that the natural calamities resulted in the deaths of 46 people in the district, with five individuals still missing, 18 receiving treatment, and over 212 families having been displaced.
In response to the memorandum, PM Oli emphasized the government’s commitment to effective search, rescue, and re-management efforts. He noted that the current government is also working to evacuate victims from last year’s Jajarkot earthquake, while the second installment of aid is still pending.
The meeting was attended by UML leaders, including Dr. Rajan Bhattarai, Sushila Nepal, Hari Krishna Byanjankar, Baburam Thapa, Rup Narayan Shrestha, and Navraj Silwal.
