KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Ending a gap of 15 years after a royal visit from the United Kingdom, Prince Harry is making an official visit to Nepal this spring (sometime between March and May).

"The visit is being undertaken at the request of Her Majesty's Government and will be the first time Prince Harry has visited the country," read a statement published on the website of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on Thursday. "Full details of the visit will be confirmed in due course."

The announcement was made also through the twitter handle @KensingtonRoyal that posts updates, pictures and videos from Kensington Palace about The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and their Royal Foundation.

The latest previous royal visit from the UK was by The Duke of Edinburgh in November, 2000.

Sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they are yet to receive official information about such visit. They however had earlier got indications that a high level visit from any member of the royal family may take place in near future.

According to the officials, they got the indication during the visit by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa to the United Kingdom last month. During Thapa's visit in mid-December, the UK had hailed the new constitution of Nepal as a milestone.
