UDMF enforces shutdown in Birgunj demanding release of cadres

BIRGUNJ, March 26: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has enforced shutdown in the city on Saturday demanding unconditional release of the cadres arrested during a protest yesterday.

UDMF cadres are protesting by burning tires at different places since early this morning.  

Police on Friday had arrested 17 UDMF cadres including central committee member of Rastriya Madhes Samajwadi Party, Rajeshman Singh Shrestha during a protest against visit by UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Among those arrested, three cadres including Shrestha are still in police custody.

SP Rajbabu Shrestha at District Police Office, Parsa told Republica Online that police are investigating the case, adding that a decision will be taken after concluding the probe.

Parsa District Chairman of Federal Socialist Forum- Nepal, Pradip Yadav warned of stern protest if the cadres are not released.
