KATHMANDU, IOct 19: The general assembly of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) on Saturday decided to amend its statute introducing a provision which makes every Nepali staying in a foreign land for two continuous years eligible for NRN status.

The amendment also has paved the way for registration of the organization pending for years due to differences between the NRN Act 2008 and NRNA´s statute. [break]

The proposal forwarded by NRNA President Jiba Lamichhane was approved unanimously at a closed session of NRNA on Saturday. Tenzi Sherpa, general secretary of NRNA, said that the amendment will come into effect from October 22.

Lamichhane said they would register the organization at the earliest. The general assembly on Sunday will choose new NRNA leadership for the next two years.
